The Introduction

Hello and Welcome!

To begin here is a short introduction of who I am, where I came from and how I got here.

I am the last child of four, we are all two years apart and we were raised by our lovely parents. My father was a chaplain in the military so we moved around a little when I was younger. Starting in Trenton, Ontario we moved to Happy Valley, Goosebay, Labrador then to Comox British Colombia, from there we went to Greenwood, Nova Scotia finally ending up here in Ottawa.

I finished high school and attended college here as well as spent some time working in the legal field. I also met my wonderful husband here and we have now been married for almost two years. I am a christian, I love reading, animals and coffee and spending as much time as I can with my family and friends. I have always loved photography, but growing up I never quite believed that I was talented enough to make this hobby my career. I didn’t take the time in my school years to explore that possibility. Instead, I learned all the areas in which I did not excel, eventually landing on a path where I was not completely inept. Straight out of high school I attended the Paralegal Program at Algonquin College and after two years I graduated. I then had some legal jobs eventually landing a longterm job with a sole practitioner. I worked there for some years and throughout those years became more and more unhappy with where I was and what I was doing. While working there I took some night classes again at Algonquin but this time for photography. It reminded me of how much I had loved it growing up and after three years working at that law firm we came to a natural end; my boss was retiring and I was getting married. With encouragement from my family and soon to be husband I took this opportunity to return to school full time. I began the Algonquin Photography program two years ago and will be graduating in June. Unlike in my previous schooling I excelled and I am happier now then all my years in the legal world. I am at the beginning of a new and exciting chapter in my life, and I can’t wait to see where it takes me.
